Contractors Association of West Virginia – CAWV

Building a Better West Virginia. Building a Better Quality of Life.

The Contractors Association of West Virginia (CAWV) has been advocating and supporting members’ interests and lobbying for economic development and infrastructure funding for the construction industry for over eight decades. Since the establishment of the CAWV in 1923, it has grown from 70 members to over 450 general contracting and associate members. It now stands as the largest full service construction trade association in the state. Most importantly, it has become a leader in the business community by continually striving to advance legislation and public policy issues. The CAWV has established itself in a leadership position to aggressively and directly address important issues on the legislative level that affect the construction industry throughout the state.

The CAWV is a state chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and The American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). The CAWV also includes the Asphalt Pavement Association of West Virginia (APAWV), the West Virginia Utility Contractors Association (WVUCA) and the West Virginia Crushed Aggregates Council (WVCAC). Another unique aspect of the association is the established working relationships with federal and state agencies, which proves to be invaluable when discussing industry issues and securing economic development and infrastructure funding.

The CAWV is comprised of three divisions: Building, Heavy/Highway and Utility. West Virginia is one of only four states in the nation where all three areas of infrastructure development are represented under one roof. This vast representation allows the CAWV to serve as one unified voice for the entire contracting industry. By setting one stage, all three industries are able to come together and openly discuss the ever changing issues affecting the construction industry. In addition, the CAWV provides an array of services to members. Association services include networking opportunities through conferences and conventions, the website (www.cawv.org) which provides pertinent information on industry news and membership information, the Membership Directory and Buyers Guide and continual educational seminars. The CAWV is the voice of construction in the Mountain State and we’re striving to ensure a better quality of life for all West Virginians.
